Each side is named for its paddle. The bone paddle eats bone blocks and leaves ink behind, so bone's score is the ink-colored space it has made, and ink's is the bone-colored space. Both start at 300 and always sum to 600. Two goal lines cross each side's territory, a third and two-thirds of the way in, and the back wall is the third. Break through to a line and you get another ball in play (a slower one: your second ball runs at two-thirds speed and your third at half; lose one and the next ball you earn takes its slot and its speed), and that line is as far back as a miss can push you: let a spare ball past your own paddle and it's simply gone; let your last one past and everything you'd converted beyond your deepest line snaps back. Touch the enemy's back wall with any of your balls and you take the board. Space pauses. With nobody playing, bone runs sharper than ink: quicker to react, truer aim.
